Lunch Wine Pairing
In many sectors of our culture, lunch is often a smaller meal and we don’t always take the time to relax that we should. If you are preparing a luncheon that includes wine, then by all means follow the guidelines found in Wine Pairing 101 (click on Recipes) to make sure the pleasure is all yours. The basic rules of matching weight and sweetness apply…but since we hardly ever take the whole afternoon off, lighter lower alcohol wines might work best at lunchtime. Lunch is also a great time to find a wine that can serve as both the aperitif and the main wine… some of the lighter styled whites (Seyval blanc, Cayuga White, Riesling…) work great for this purpose.
